BRAMPTON, Ont. - Jordan Mayer and Casey Cizikas scored 56 seconds apart in the second period to lead the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors to a 3-2 win over the Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.

The Majors, playing their first regular game of the season, opened the scoring 6:31 into the first period when Brendan McCann beat Patrick Killeen from close range.

The defending Eastern Conference champion Battalion pulled even at the 14:20 mark, when Stephon Thorne converted a Craig Moore pass on a two-on-one rush, slipping the puck past JP Anderson.

Mississauga took a 3-1 lead with Mayer and Cizikas's goals.

Sean Jones, acquired by Brampton from the Erie Otters during the off-season, scored his second goal in as many games to pull the Battalion within a goal.

Mississauga scored once on three power plays, while the Battalion were unable to score on five man advantage opportunities.

Anderson stopped 27 of the 29 shots that he faced while Killeen turned aside 25 of 28 shots.

Both teams were missing several players currently attending NHL training camps.
